Phenomena cinemas dedicate a series to science-fiction to mark the occasion of the Barcelona International Comic Convention

From the 10th to the 18th of April the venue will screen “Captain Harlock”, “Interstellar”, “Starship Troopers “Horizonte final” and “Blade Runner” in honour of one of the core concepts of this edition of the Convention: science fiction

The 33rd edition of the Barcelona International Comic Convention is dedicating one of the core themes of its programme to science fiction and fantasy. With this in mind, and as a parallel activity, Phenomena cinemas have organised a series of five classic and contemporary science-fiction films featuring futuristic dystopias and space travel.

The programme kicks off on Friday the 10th of April with the screening of the computer-animated film Captain Harlock, by Shinji Arakami. The film opened in local cinemas earlier this year and is an audio-visual re-adaptation of the comic book featuring the adventures of the famous space pirate. On the 11th the venue will once again programme the latest film by Christopher Nolan, Interstellar, in 70 mm. The film stars Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway and was one of the most notable science fiction films of last season.

The double session programmed for Friday the 17th will feature two films from the 90s: Paul Verhoeven’s cult film Starship Troopers, and Event Horizon, one of the first films by Paul W. S. Anderson, the film maker responsible for some of the films in the Resident Evil saga. Finally, the 18th will see the turn of the Ridley Scott classic starring Harrison Ford, Blade Runner, one of the most eminent science fiction films in the history of the seventh art.
