Barcelona Pensa

It’s time to reflect with Barcelona Pensa

This is organised by the Philosophy Faculty of the University of Barcelona to bring this field of study to the general public.

Philosophy may often seem like a field of study that does not have much to do with our daily lives, but if we start looking, we can find it everywhere. To show us this, each year the Philosophy Faculty the University of Barcelona organises Barcelona Pensa, a festival that is completely geared towards spreading philosophy, bringing it closer and getting it across to everyone. They organise it to fall at the same time as UNESCO World Philosophy Day on 21 November, defending the discipline as a fundamental right and trait of a critical and participative culture in which everyone can feel involved. This is the 6th year it is running, and you’ll have the change to take part in activities grouped into 6 blocks: society, creativity, existence, equality, knowledge and memory. As is the case every year, there will be lectures, talks, debates, book presentations, interviews and much more that will help you enjoy philosophy in the best way possible.

All the activities in Barcelona Pensa will run from 18 to 23 November at different times throughout the day. The festival will take up many corners around Barcelona, since activities will be held in many spaces, such as bookshops (Llibreria Calders, La Central del Raval and Llibreria la Carbonera), civic centres (Casa Elizalde, Pati Llimona and Golferichs), the Philosophy Faculty of the University of Barcelona, CCCB, La Model, Sala Beckett, cafés and many other places around the city.

All activities are free and open to everyone. You will find all the information on Barcelona Pensa website.
