Guided tours at the Picasso Museum

Every Saturday afternoon, they will offer guided tours, in Catalan, Spanish and English, of the three temporary exhibitions currently on display.

Every Saturday, the Museu Picasso organises commented visits to the three temporary exhibitions currently on display: Picasso blue project (until 4 September), Picasso - Clergue and  Brigitte Baer. Picasso and his engravings (both until 20 October).

Picasso blue project delves into the technical study of four early canvases - Still Life (1901), Jaume Sabartés with Pince-Nez (1901), The Blue Glass (1903) and Roofs of Barcelona (1903) - through an analysis of the materials, imaging techniques and high-resolution digital photography. A thorough examination has shown that each of the canvases conceals a previous work under the last layer, not always related to the final painting. The exhibition displays this hidden information by means of corresponding infrared reflectographic images.

Picasso - Clergue, in turn, presents in the form of a chronicle - halfway between a family album and the diary of a friendship - a selection of the photographs that Lucien Clergue took of the painter during their meetings at La Californie, the painter's house on the shores of Cannes, between 1955 and 1973.

Finally, Brigitte Baer. Picasso and his engravings is a journey through the archive and the professional career of the person who continued and expanded the work of cataloguing the artist's graphic work left unfinished by Bernhard Geiser until she became his greatest expert.

The guided tours of the temporary exhibitions are scheduled every Saturday at 3 p.m. (in English), 4 p.m. (in Spanish) and 5 p.m. (in Catalan) and are 12.5 euros - 10.5 for the reduced fare. In any case, you need to purchase the ticket, including the guided tour, in advance at this link. You can also make a reservation in advance by writing at museupicasso_reserves@bcn.cat or calling 93 256 30 22, Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
