Imatge del tenor líric Piotr Beczała

Piotr Beczala, a voice to remember

Palau de la Música will host a recital by Polish lyric tenor Piotr Beczala, who will perform pieces by Verdi, Puccini and Donaudy, among others.

Not many voices have matured with the same delicate beauty of lyric tenor as Piotr Beczala’s. The Polish singer is back in Barcelona with a recital at Palau de la Música. He will sing iconic pieces by Verdi and Puccini, in addition to other lesser-known works by Italian composers Emanno Wolf-Ferrari, Ottorino Respighi and Stefano Donaudy.

On May 13th, as part of the Palau Great Voices cycle, the polish singer, alongside pianist Sarah Tysman, will prove that, nowadays, there is no one readier than him to perform the Italian repertoire. Beczala not only controls the higher register but has also tamed all of the voice's nuances, becoming one of the great vocal virtuosos of our time.

Following Kaufmann, Flórez or Camarena's steps, Beczala is today one of the quickest musicians from around the world to fill auditoriums and opera theatres. Born in Poland in 1966, his career has grown little by little until he has made a place for himself among the best of contemporary tenors. After performing at “Teatro Real,” he will now sing at “Palau de la Música” with a completely different repertoire full of surprising tinges.

This way, we will be able to listen to arias such as “Quando le sere al placido,” by Rodolfo in Verdi’s “Luisa Miller,” or “Recondita armonía,” by Cavaradossi in Puccini’s “Tosca.” Beczala will open the concert with songs composed by maestros Donaudy, Respighi and Tosti, among others. In short, it will be an intimate recital to get to know Beczala up close – an opportunity that no music-lover will want to miss.
