Autobiography day with Jia Tolentino and Rachel Cusk

In an event by the CCCB through their website, the journalist and the writer will talk about some of their lives’ experiences.

The Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) had been organizing the Primera Persona festival for eight years, a meeting of creators from various artistic disciplines who base their work on their own life experiences. This 2020, for reasons you all know, so far it has not been possible to carry out the corresponding edition, but the CCCB will hold a Primera Persona Indoors on May 30th, a day that will be broadcasted live from the Centre's website from 6 p.m. Access will be free.

The day will consist of two conversations. First and foremost we will have the intervention of the journalist and novelist Rachel Cusk, who will talk about marital and sentimental ruins with journalist Anna Guitart. Cusk collected her marital experience, which ended in 2009, in the book Aftermath: On Marriage and Separation, published in 2012 but not translated into Spanish until a few months ago, with the title Despojos. An hour later it will be the turn of New Yorker journalist Jia Tolentino, and she will also discuss issues such as privacy, public exposure and the Internet with journalist Noelia Ramírez. Between sessions, Kiko Amat and Miqui Otero, directors of the Primera Persona festival, will speak briefly to announce the dates of the ninth edition. The dialogues with Cusk Tolentino will be in English and subtitled in the same language and Catalan and Spanish.
