The district’s annual celebrations in honour of Saint Bartholomew will take place this year from the 23rd to the 31st of August

Music, games, sardanes (a traditional circular Catalan dance), castells (human towers), theatre, street parades, dance, communal meals, festooned streets...

For yet another year the Sants district of Barcelona prepares for its annual festival, or Festa Major, with a programme of activities for all ages. The opening address this year will be delivered by ex-handball player Enric Massip on the 23rd at 8 pm in the Parc de l’Espanya Industrial and the extensive programme of activities which, as is customary, will include the Alternative Festa Major and the Festa Major of the Castellers de Sants, will include, for example, Concert Night on the 26th, also in the Parc de l’Espanya Industrial, which will feature the bands Anímic, Se Atormenta Una Vecina and Buhos. Other activities include La Diada Castellera (human towers) in the Plaza Bonet i Muixí, children’s and adult’s correfocs (fire runners) on Saturday the 30th, the fun run on the morning of the 31th and, to mark the official closure of the festival, the music and fireworks display, which will begin at 10 pm in front of the Espanya Industrial sports complex.
