Cate Blanchett in 'Blue Jasmine'

Woody Allen’s ‘Blue Jasmine’ at the Filmoteca

Cate Blanchett stars in this feature film about a rich and glamorous woman who falls on hard times.

Cate Blanchett won an Oscar and a Golden Globe, among other awards, for her leading role in Woody Allen’s 2013 film Blue Jasmine and Barcelona’s Filmoteca de Catalunya film archive is reviving the production for two screenings scheduled as part of their Classics cycle, the first of which took place on 9 August, while the second will be on Saturday 18 August at 10pm.

In the film, Blanchett plays Ginger, a member of Manhattan’s high society who loses her home and money and is forced to go to live in a much more modest way with her sister in San Francisco. Addicted to tranquilizers, she looks back on her past life while attempting to deal with her new reality. Alec Baldwin, Sally Hawkins and Bobby Cannavale accompany Blanchett in her journey.
