Sean Mackaoui exhibition at galeria H2O

'Collages' and 'Approximate artistic impression subject to possible modifications' by Sean Mackaoui at galería H2O.

Sean Mackaoui was born in Switzerland in 1969 and, even though some 18 years later he first saw the work of Kurt Schwitters and was very impressed by his discourse, what he wanted to be was a photographer. In any case, he started to create collages, and it was when he moved to Madrid that he began to believe in his own work and potential to create collages, especially when  he came into contact with people like Alberto García-Alix, who was his artistic  godfather figure and who introduced him to the work of Diego Lara and Joan Brossa. From that moment on, the name of Sean Mackaoui has always been related to intennational publications like the Courrier International of France, The Sunday Times Magazine and The International Herald Tribune and El País de las Tentaciones, Letras Libres and Revista Claves in Spain.

Mackaoui is now the focus of a free exhibition at galeria H2O with 'Collages' and 'Approximate artistic impression subject to possible modifications' 'Collages' and 'Impresión, which can be seen from the 14th of January to the 12th of February. The most interesting aspect of the exposition is the passage from the original, unique work on paper to the serialised graphic work, which allows him to go from the usual 50 x 35cm format to 200 x 14cm. This has also strengthened the visual aspect of Mackaoui’s work, in which irony, humour, paradox and reflection all play an important part.
