Signoret and Montand

Signoret and Montand's activism

The Filmoteca de Catalunya introduces 'Signoret and Montand: complicitats', a cycle of films where the two actors star together.

Simone Signoret and Yves Montand make one of the most famous couples in the history of cinema. The Filmoteca de Catalunya, with the collaboration of the Institut Français de Barcelona, wants to pay tribute to these French emblems with the cycle 'Signoret and Montand: complicitats', which reviews some of the times they have worked together on screen: though they were few, they made their presence felt. So much so that Hollywood censored their production of Les sorcières for a while, and Soviet countries did the same with L'aveu. Born in Germany and Italy, respectively, the nazi occupation reaffirmed their convictions, for which they fought with tireless activism on and off the screen.

On September 15, don't miss Let's make love (1960) by George Cukor. Then, until the September 30, there will be many more films starring the couple: Room at the top (17 and 22/09), Ship of fools (18 and 21/09), Compartiment tueurs (18/09), L'Aveu (19 and 22/09), Les diaboliques (19/09), Tout va bien (21 and 26/09), L'armée des ombres (23 and 25/09), Le cercle rouge (23 and 28/09), Le chat (24/09), César et Rosalie (24 and 25/09), La solitude du chanteur de fond and Mémoires pour Simone (26/09), L'adolescente (28/09), Rude journée pour la reine (29/09) and Les routes du sud and Trois places pour le 26 (30/09).
