Six love stories in “Barcelona, nit d’estiu”

After a tour of various locations around Catalonia, the film by Dani de la Orden opens in Barcelona cinemas on the 6th of September

Six love stories, one summer night and Barcelona as the principal setting.

Barcelona, nit d’estiu (Barcelona, a summer’s night) opens in Barcelona cinemas next Friday, the 6th of September, in the hope of becoming one of the season’s most popular romantic films. The film has already been shown during the month of August in a number of locations around Catalonia and now sees its official opening in commercial cinemas. The film is expected to be released on online platforms at a later date.

The film by Dani de la Orden, a young film maker from the University School of Cinema and Visual Communications of Catalonia (ESCAC), has set the film on the night of the 18th of August, 2013, the night in which the comet Rose crossed the city’s skyline, offering a unique spectacle that will not be seen again for several centuries. With this event as its nexus, the film presents six love stories.

The story of Oriol and Adrià, who put their friendship to the test after meeting the girl of their dreams; Roser, who meets up with her ex; Marc and Jordi, two football players who are obliged to reconsider their secretive relationship; Laura and Carles, who are about to discover they are going to be parents; Guillem, who falls in love for the first time with Sara, who is convinced the world is going to end this very night, and the story of Joan, who has invited all his friends to dinner using the passing of the comet as an excuse.
This final tale is both the first in the film and the embryo for the entire project. It is inspired by the song “Jo mai mai”, by Joan Dausà, who is also the protagonist of one of the stories. Barcelona, nit d’estiu stars a number of actors, among them Francesc Colomer, Jan Cornet, Mar Del Hoyo, Laura Díaz, Miki Esparbé, Luis Fernández, Àlex Monner, Pau Roca and Claudia Vega.
