Close encounters with Soledad Vélez and other folk-rock geniuses

The Concerts Pròxims cycle is continuing at Fabra i Coats with performances by figures like Lídia Damunt and Sun Kil Moon.

In an era of large scale festivals and arena concerts the chance to catch a singer or band in a small venue is becoming an ever more precious experience, and one that allows for closer contact between the artist and public. And that's just what the Concerts Pròxims cycle is all about. In the cycle, Fabra i Coats becomes a stage on which great talents, mainly in the folk rock genre, can play small-format gigs. November sees no fewer than three of these perfromances, beginning on 2 November with Soledad Vélez, a singer-songwriter who is currently resident in Valencia.

The other dates in November are with Lidia Damunt, one of the biggest names in the sad song genre on the independent folk-rock scene, on 15 November, and Mark Kozelek's Sun Kil Moon on 22 November. Although the latter concert is more expensive than the others, the basic concept is the same: an old style, close proximity musical experience.
