Vespres d’estiu

Montjuïc Castle is enlivening summer evenings once again

Free jazz, blues and bossa nova concerts with the best views of the city and the sea.

In Barcelona, we are fortunate that many iconic buildings hold evening activities where you can enjoy their facilities in the cooler hours of summertime. These terraces and quintessential spaces fill with live music so citizens and visitors can have fun in an amazing atmosphere. This year one of those buildings is Montjuïc Castle, which is once again offering its Vespres d’estiu (Summer Evenings). Throughout the entire month of July, anyone who heads up to the top of Montjuïc mountain will enjoy a setting boasting the most spectacular views of Barcelona and the sea accompanied by jazz, blues and bossa nova concerts. The performers charged with setting these summer nights to music are the Maria Esteban Trio, Blue Birds, Black Wood and Ellie&Paul.

This is a great way to relax and get away from the heat of the city every Sunday in July: 7, 14, 21 and 28, from 7 to 10 pm. As we said, the concerts will be held in one of the beautiful outdoor areas of Montjuïc Castle. Plus, you can stroll through this fortress, which has been keeping watch over Barcelona since 1694, although it was torn down and rebuilt in 1751. The building is owned by the city of Barcelona and ceased housing the Military Museum in 2009. Since then, everyone is welcome to visit Montjuïc Castle and its grounds in an atmosphere of peace and respect for historical memory.

As you may know, access to Montjuïc Castle is free every Sunday after 3 pm, so this is a free activity. You can find all the information on its website.
