A surprise screening awaits visitors to the final Sala Montjuïc session

The festival will close its doors on the 8th of August with a film classic the title of which won’t be revealed until the last moment

The 2014 edition of the Sala Montjuïc open-air film festival will close its doors on Friday the 8th of August with a surprise screening, this year’s novelty being that the title of the film won’t be revealed until the very last moment, so those wishing to discover this surprise classic will have to take their seat in the moat of the Montjuïc Castle, where the entire open-air film series has been held, and take pot luck.

The festival organisers, however, have taken it on themselves to reveal hints relating to the nature of the film via their Facebook and Twitter accounts and the festival website. For the time being the only hint available is that the background of the Sala Montjuïc website points to a very well-known 80s horror flick.

Prior to the screening, those in attendance will have the opportunity to enjoy a performance by Hop’s Trio, a young band dedicated to reinterpreting swing classics by trios from the 30s such as Benny Goodman, Oscar Peterson and Louis Armstrong, a real treat for all fans of the Lindy Hop.

Throughout this edition of Sala Montjuïc, visitors to the venue in the Montjuïc Castle moat have been regaled with open air screenings of Gravity, Django Unchained, Metropolis, Short Term 12, Shame, Blue is the Warmest Colour and Searching for Sugar Man and the final film in the series, the title of which is yet to be revealed, will be screened this Friday, the 8th of August. The pre-film concert will kick off at 8.45 and the film itself will start at 10 pm. Tickets are priced at 6 euros and more information is available here.
