Art galleries from around the world to get together at the Swab Barcelona Art Fair

The fair is celebrating its tenth edition from 28 September to 1 October.

Making art accessible for everyone – that’s the idea behind the Swab Barcelona Art Fair. From 28 September to 1 October, 80 art galleries from five continents will take up residence in the Italian Pavilion at the Fira Barcelona complex to show visitors – last year saw an attendance of 20,000 – innovative art projects by local and international creators in a variety of disciplines.

One of the aims of the fair is to promote emerging artists and galleries and to encourage people to collect art. So, visitors will find a large number of curated programmes, prizes and activities during the three days of the fair. For example, the Ephemeral section features a set of works based on ephemeral media such as installations, performance and video games, located both inside and outside the fair building. Meanwhile, Swab Performance features five young Ukrainian artists who aim to blur the divisions between art, activism and social protest. Swab House, on the other hand, will explore new exhibition formats, in this case containers converted into screening rooms in the style of an industrial black box: each container will be used to screen the work of a particular artist.
