A torrent of blues for Barcelona

The principle acts in the Barcelona Blues Festival can be seen in the Parc Central in the Nou Barris district on the 19th and 20th of July

While accompanying acts in the Barcelona Blues Festival began last Thursday, the 11th, the main programme of events will take place next weekend in the Parc Central in the Nou Barris district.

The programme for Friday the 19th includes two formations, one of them a local legend, Blas Picón, who will be accompanied by The Junk Express, his new “rockin’ blues band” and, from Chicago, Lorenzo Thompson, one of the principle exponents of electric blues in the city, who will be accompanied by Tota Blues, a band resident in Barcelona for over ten years.

If the aforementioned Picón is a legendary figure on the local scene, Saturday the 20th will see the turn of Dani Nel·lo, a saxophonist who has been playing rock’n’roll, blues, jazz and rockabilly since the mid-1980s. The Barcelona Big Blues Band will also have their turn in the spotlight on an evening when they will accompany North American singer Barbara Clifford.

In the run up to the weekend, as we said, there will be further concerts, jam sessions and workshops, all of which you may consult
here.
