The venues vindicate themselves with 'The Last Concert?'

They denounce the critical situation they have been experiencing since the beginning of the pandemic with a manifesto and performances in streaming.

Lately, a lot of images of concert halls are flooding the social networks, the façades of which have a black poster with white letters with the question The last concert?, and which also shows the year of foundation of that hall, followed by 2020 with a question mark. Practically all the spaces that regularly hosted musical performances are living a really bad situation, closed since the arrival of the pandemic in our country - eight months ago. The message is clear: their managers (as well as workers, artists, technicians, promoters...) are wondering if maybe this year they have hosted their last shows, and they will have no choice but to shut down their businesses once and for all. If so, the action that will take place on November 18, from 8 p.m., could actually be the last concert for some or many of the halls. It will be the central act of the campaign - the manifest demands that the administrations to roll up their sleeves and meet the demands of the sector - and will consist of live performances by a long list of artists, which can be seen live in streaming from the campaign website.

A hundred concert halls have joined the initiative, many in Barcelona: Luz de Gas, Razzmatazz, Sidecar, Almo2bar, Barts, Apolo... Núria Graham, Monica Green, Mishima, Lucrecia, Ferran Palau, Suu, Pau Vallvé or Amaia are just some of the names that have already confirmed their participation. The initiative, created by the Associació de Sales de Concerts de Catalunya, wants to give visibility to the situation in which these spaces are; according to the data they offer, 25,000 concerts will have been cancelled this year among all the venues, with accumulated losses in the sector of around 120 million euros. About 5,000 employees are directly affected by the situation.
