VI José Agustín Goytisolo Congress

From the 12th to the 15th of March the José Agustín Goytisolo Chair of the UAB will host a number of events focussing on the poet’s relationship with Latin America

On the occasion of the fifteenth anniversary of the poet’s death, the José Agustín Goytisolo Chair of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) have organised the VI International Congress dedicated to the poet and others of his generation. This year’s congress focusses on the poets’ relationship with Latin America.

The events begin on Wednesday the 12th of March at 7pm in the Biblioteca Francesca Bonnemaison with a free recital entitled Palabras hispanoamericanas para J. A. Goytisolo, in which Rodolfo Häsler, Edgardo Dobry and Neus Aguado will read their own works as well as those of others poets of the 50s generation. Inauguration of the congress will take place on Thursday the 13th at 10am in the Sala de Grados of the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras of the UAB.

The congress itself will take place in the Sala de Actos of the Reial Acadèmia de Bones Lletres on Friday and Saturday, the 14th and 15th of March, and will feature more than twenty authors, publishers and professors from Spain and Latin America. The presentations and addresses will focus on the relationship between Goytisolo and other Spanish and Catalan poets such as Valente, Gil de Biedma and Barral with Latin American authors such as Borges, Cortázar, Huidobro and Juan Gelman.

The cost of registration for participants making presentations is 30 euros and is free for UAB students and the general public.
