“Visions sobre la Valquíria” (Visions of the Valkyrie), in L’Auditori

Richard Wagner was born on the 22nd of May, 1813, in Leipzig, Germany, and on Wednesday, the 22nd of May, at 8.30 pm, in the Sala 1 Pau Casals of L’Auditori, the exhibition Visions of the Valkyrie will be inaugurated.
 

The exhibition is a private initiative of industrial engineer Manel Bertran Mariné, a Wagner enthusiast. It was first shown in the Gran Teatre del Liceu in May, 2003, and has since been on display in a variety of venues. The exhibition includes sixteen works, or artistic perceptions, relating to Wagner’s Valkyrie by internationally renowned artists such as Pat Andrea, Juri Rodkin, Vaccaro and Dis Berlin, as well as Catalan artists who have exhibited internationally, such as Jordi Gispert, Albert Gonzalo and Montserrat Clausells.
 

The exhibition may be visited in the foyer from 7.30 pm onwards and, one hour later, the well-known presenter of the TV programme Òpera en texans, Ramon Gener, will be conversing with the artists and the collector himself. To round off the evening, the Barcelona Municipal Orchestra will interpret three of Wagner’s pieces, the prelude to the third act of Lohengrin, the famous "Ride of the Valkyrie" and "The Mastersingers", a selection of fragments from the third act of The Valkyrie.
 

Visions of the Valkyrie is a pictorial and audio-visual  representation that pays homage to the most frequently interpreted opera in the cycle The Ring of the Nibelungs, first performed in Munich in 1870.
