Yago Hortal, in Galería Senda

A selection of paintings by the young artist from Barcelona can be seen up until the 23rd of February

Since 2007, when Yago Hortal (Barcelona, 1983) won the Young Painter Award from the Sala Parés at just 24 years old, his work has been consolidated as one of the rising values in contemporary Catalan painting.  Since then, a number of exhibitions and multifarious orders have led him to with international trends.

Yago currently lives and works in Berlin, but has returned to Barcelona to produce his new exhibition in the Senda gallery where he exhibited in 2008, having previously presented his colourist creations in Los Angeles, New York, Wisconsin and Berlin. The visual impact of the young painter has captured the interest of both cutting-edge businesses and sectors via his effervescent presence in Internet and the social networks.

The abundant application of energetic brush strokes give his works a visual impact suggestive of multiple chromatic nuances that even goes as far as to transgress the borders of the painting itself. Vitality, impetus, movement, agility, disorder and coherence...a permanent dialog between chaos and control that strikes a balance between the abstraction and the rationalism of his paintings.
