Kazushi Ono with the OBC

The OBC perform Richard Strauss's 'Also Sprach Zarathustra' at the Auditori

The programme will also feature works for violin by Robert Schumann and Johann Sebastian Bach.

Composed by Strauss at the end of the 19th century, in the post-romantic phase at the beginning of his career, the tone poem 'Also Sprach Zarathustra' attracted a great deal of popular attention when it was used on the soundtrack of Stanley Kubrick’s ‘2001, a Space Odyssey’. The piece will be the focus of three sessions from 15 to 17 December at the Auditori concert hall, where the OBC will perform under the baton of Kazushi Ono.

These performances will also feature the prodigious talent of violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann, who, under the direction of Ono, will play the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra Number 1 by Johann Sebastian Bach, and the Fantasy for Violin and the Orchestra by Robert Schumann.
