Women and artists

Discover the world of women artists in the history of art, making them visible and calling them by their name!

The project aims to let women artists be heard who throughout the history of art have been silenced or exhibiting their work under a masculine name so as to be able to go ahead with their task, whatever the discipline.

Many women writers, painters, dedicated previously to the so-called major arts (painting, sculpture, music, literature) and minor arts (applied arts, craftwork) suffered the male chauvinism of our Western (and Eastern) society and they were forced to hide their passion or to settle for using pseudonyms.

Luckily, it is now more and more natural for a woman to be an artist.

Come and create a great "altar" full of portraits of women artists with a lot of colour and their names will become clear! We will paint as many pictures as we can and we will make a mural with them all!
