Barcelona.dibuixa.edu
As part of Barcelona Dibuixa, the city’s big drawing festival, which is taking place on 25 October this year, we suggest that drawing should also pervade educational centres for all age groups, from nursery schools to universities. And we would like all the activities carried out in those centres to be shared on the Barcelona Dibuixa website.
Send us a picture of the proposal that has been done at your school, along with a .pdf with the description and the instructions, to barcelonadibuixa@bcn.cat, and we will publish it in this website.
Why draw?
Barcelona Dibuixa will answer this question and reveal the value and opportunities we can get from drawing with two projects:
- a series of webinars for sharing the value of drawing from various perspectives and functions and
- a guide for orientation and projects to be carried out in educational centres during the week.
How can we draw at school?
Drawing is present in our lives and becomes an essential tool for people’s development, although we are often unaware of this and it seems to only be necessary for certain professions. We can identify the functions that drawing may have for personal and social development.
The proposal for holding the #BarcelonaDibuixa in educational centres is to ensure that drawing enters all levels of education in these five functions. We only have to think of which ones fit in most easily with various moments during the week, the times, the contexts and the areas of knowledge.
The act of drawing can be aimed at young people and children, but also for the centre’s teaching staff to use drawing in their work.
We may discover that there are many more occasions in which we have to turn to drawing than we are sufficiently aware of, and it would be a good idea to highlight them.
Once the functions and the times have been identified, we suggest that you plan the activities, carry them out and document them in an explanatory image and sentence and then share them on the Barcelona Dibuixa website, using this link.
