Plenary Session of the Consell Econòmic i Social de Barcelona

09/29/2025 - 11:30
Ajuntament de Barcelona, Saló de Cròniques

Although Barcelona's various indicators show a positive outlook and a more favourable performance of its economy in comparison with Catalonia, Spain and Europe as a whole, its situation is not free of problems that require joint and consensual reflection among the different economic agents. This is the context for ‘Barcelona Impulsa 2025-2035’, a roadmap for the city that defines objectives to be pursued and strategic axes to be deployed in a rapidly and intensely changing world.

‘Barcelona Impulsa 2025-2035’ is inspired by the principles of the ‘European Pillar of Social Rights’, gender, cohesion, equality and prosperity, among others, and focuses on four main objectives, the management of the visitor economy, the protection of local commerce and the promotion of strategic sectors.

In a lively, international Barcelona, rich in nuances and diversity, which looks to the future while changing the present, its main challenge is to leave no one behind in this endeavour and to adopt all the measures to make this possible. Citizens deserve it and the public authorities must rise to the occasion, as must the economic and social forces. The CESB, modestly and to the extent of our possibilities, will also try to contribute to this.
