Recyclables

Packaging & Recyclables includes all waste that is plastic, metal or a combination of both. This category comprises packaging as well as non-container waste that is nonetheless made of plastic or metal and so most likely can be recycled to recover their materials. Collected Packaging & Recyclables waste is taken to sorting plants, where the different materials are separated using optical, mechanical and manual techniques. The different materials sorted are distributed to recycling centres, where multiple products can be manufactured: For example, paper or cardboard bags for packaging can be sourced from cartons; appliances can be made from aluminium cans; and plastic packaging can be used to produce street furniture, clothes or new packaging for non-food uses.
