Waste Finder

Glass

Glass includes all glass waste, such as bottles and jars for food and other consumer products. Collected Glass waste is taken to recycling plants, where it is cleaned, its ferrous metal is extracted with magnets and it is crushed to powder (sorted, clean and ground glass). This process allows for the manufacturing of containers and other glass products that are the same as the originals, such as bottles, jars, light bulbs, etc. Glass containers are the only reusable containers available for food use. Returnable containers, once empty and clean, can be reused, thus saving significant amounts of energy and raw materials.
