Foment Sardanista Andreuenc

The Foment Sardanista Andreuenc group was officially formed in May 1998, as the heir to a similarly named group founded in 1922. But the new Foment had already performed its first dances in 1997, as part of the Orfeó Eco de Catalunya. In fact, some of its founders were members of the Colla Sardanista Bella Dansa, which was set up in 1955 as part of that choral society. The Foment Sardanista Andreuenc was created to ensure, at least, an annual aplec, or sardana gathering, was held in Sant Andreu, as well as encourage ballades, open-air public sessions. So one of their aims is to organise short courses and take part in these meetings, gatherings, public sessions and competitions involving improvised groups of dancers.

Since they were set up, they have been part of the Centre de Cultura Popular de Sant Andreu, which is where they are based and hold courses and workshops. They also publish a quarterly newsletter, as the old association had done since 1924. Every year they hold an aplec de sardanes in September and another on Member's Day.
