Grup Sardanista Estels

The Colla Sardanista Estels group was set up by members of another group, the Joventut Verge de la Mercè, on 2 November 1974. After basing themselves at a number of centres on Carrer de Sant Elies and Carrer d'Urgell, they finally settled for the Centre Parroquial de Sant Martí del Clot. They did some sterling work to promote the sardana in the El Clot neighbourhood, organising short courses for adults and children, annual festival competitions in front of the Sant Martí parish centre and sardana band concerts.

The group is organised into three colles, according to the age of their members. The 7- to 12-year-olds in the children's colla learn and practice the dances; then there is a youth colla, whose members are aged 13-18; and, finally, there is the adult colla, who mainly focus on non-competitive dancing but also give support to the other colles, or sections. For a few years the group also had a little children's section, the Petits Estels (Little Stars).

Besides giving courses and taking part in competitions, the group also arrange special events for their members, such as meals and dances. And they also take part in exhibitions and commemoratives events, for example, one at Barça's Camp Nou and another at the Club Nàutic.
