Pessebre Vivent de Can Baró

Since 2007, the gardens of the Casal de Barri El Pirineu civic centre have hosted the Pessebre Vivent de Can Baró, a live nativity scene, using Rovira hill as a natural backdrop. The forest and rock walls give a very rural feel to this setting, which takes places around Epiphany. It is organised by the Associació de Veïns de Can Baró residents' association, and other organisations in the neighbourhood also get involved.

The pessebre, or nativity scene, is structured around events related to the story of Christ's birth. With the stable as the central point, the other moving tableaux recreate professions, like livestock farmers and washerwomen, as well as a grocery store where the visitors get a good cup of broth. A highlight are the cages and corrals of domesticated animals.
