This weekend the Colla Castellera Jove de Barcelona are performing at Sfinks Mixed, a festival held in the Flemish town of Boechout. Founded in 1975, this is one of the most important folk music and multicultural festivals in Flanders and the whole of Belgium. The concerts will involve groups from various parts of the world, with African electronic music, Portuguese rhythms and Cuban orchestras, among others.
In the middle of this varied offering, the Colla Castellera Jove de Barcelona will be performing each afternoon in the free space between the tents and the concert stages. On Saturday and Sunday they will be building their pillars and towers to animate the festival public and spread the Catalan human-castle tradition. And during their performances, they will be accompanied by street theatre groups, dance troupes and jugglers.
