Every exposition, conference and open-door of Corpus Christi 2023

 

This year’s Corpus Christi festivities are coming to town chock-a-block with cultural activities for everyone. Which is why we’d like to highlight all the exhibitions, talks, round-table discussions, presentations and open days being held in 2023:

BARCELONA CITY HALL
From Wednesday, 7 June to Sunday, 11 June, from 11 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 7 pm (enter on C/ Font de Sant Miquel). Thursday, 8 June, from 10 am to 8 pm. On Sunday, 11 June, the exhibition will be closed in the afternoon.

Open day
Thursday, 8 June, from 10 am to 8 pm.

Exhibition of the People’s Procession
Featuring the Capgrossos Macers [“big-head” macebearer figures], giant figures such as the Gegants de la Ciutat, del Pi i de Santa Maria del Mar, the Àliga de la Ciutat [eagle], the Lleó [lion], the Mulassa [mule], the Bou [ox], the Drac [dragon] and the Víbria [she-dragon], as well as the Tarasca [serene dragon], the Cavallets Cotoners [horses], the Falcons de Barcelona [acrobatic human towers], the Ball de Bastons del Seguici [stick dancers] and the Gegants Nous de la Casa de la Caritat o del Corpus. In collaboration with the Federació d’Entitats de Cultura Popular i Tradicional de la Barcelona Vella i la Casa dels Entremesos.

LA CASA DELS ENTREMESOS
Mondays, closed; Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, from 10 am to 1 pm and from 4 pm to 7 pm; Thursdays, from 10 am to 8 pm; and Sundays, from 11 am to 2 pm.

Permanent exhibitions on at La Casa dels Entremesos: Imatgeria festiva de Barcelona Vella: gegants, nans i bestiari [Barcelona Vella’s festive imagery: giants, dwarves and beasts] and Titelles tradicionals catalans [Traditional Catalan puppets].

Temporary exhibitions:
From 1 to 30 June. Trampes, trampes, tot són trampes, i endavant la processó. Els vestits dels timbalers de Corpus [Trampes, trampes, all trampes, and the procession goes forward. The Corpus kettledrummers’ outfits.], organised by the Federació d’Entitats de Cultura Popular i Tradicional de la Barcelona Vella i La Casa dels Entremesos.

From 1 to 11 June. Corpus a Barcelona [Corpus Christi in Barcelona], organised by Barcelona City Council.

Talks
Wednesday, 7 June, at 8 pm. La religiositat popular al carrer [Popular religiosity in the streets], given by Víctor Albert Blanco from ISOR. Organised by the Barcelona Institute of Culture.

Thursday, 8 June, at 8 pm. Els gremis, els entremesos i les festes de carrer [Guilds, festival figures and street parties], given by Albert Domènec. Organised by the Federació d’Entitats de Cultura Popular i Tradicional de la Barcelona Vella i La Casa dels Entremesos.

Exhibition
From Thursday, 1 June to Sunday, 10 September, Quan la gent s’ajuda [When people help one another], dedicated to guilds.
Thursday, 1 June, at 6.30 pm. Official opening.

Round-table discussion
Thursday, June 1, at 7 pm.
Quan la gent s’ajuda [When people help one another]. Chaired by Eduard Sala Peixau, the head of the Social Department of Càritas Diocesana de Barcelona.
With the following taking part: Càritas parroquial de Sant Josep de Badalona (individuals in vulnerable situations), Projecte Sostre (homeless individuals from the La Barceloneta neighbourhood), Associació Catnova (immigrants and interculturality) and Sindicato Las Kellys Barcelona (hotel cleaning-staff collective).
Led by Càritas Diocesana de Barcelona.

Presentation
Saturday, 3 June, at 11 am.
Glossari Bestial [Glossary of beasts].
With Edgar Trujillo, Eva Colldeforn and Mercè Ayora taking part.
Led by the Agrupació del Bestiari Festiu i Popular de Catalunya.

Lecture
Tuesday, 6 June, at 7 pm.
Gremis, confraries i religiositat popular [Guilds, confraternities and popular religiosity].
Led by Joan Rosàs.

ESPAI ALBERT MUSONS

Exhibition
From 8 June to 7 July. Tot ve de Corpus [Everything comes form Corpus Christi], organised by the Festa Major de Gràcia Foundation and the Taller d’Història de Gràcia. From 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm. Saturday, 10 June and Sunday, 11 June, from 10 am to 2 pm and from 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm.

ARXIU HISTÒRIC DE LA CIUTAT – CASA DE L’ARDIACA

Open day and guided tours
Thursday, 8 June, from 10 am to 8 pm.

Exhibition of the document of the month: Llibre de les Solemnitats de Barcelona [Book of Barcelona Solemnities], at the reading room in the Arxiu. Thursday, June 8, from 10 am to 8 pm. The public can continue to visit the document  until 30 June, after the open day.

REIAL MONESTIR DE SANTA MARIA DE PEDRALBES
