Eighteen school playgrounds open to the public in the summer holidays
21/06/2019 - 10:08
Education. Del 24 de juny al 31 de juliol, aquests espais també oferiran activitats de dinamització educatives.
The playgrounds at these schools will be open at different times of day every day of the week from 24 June to 31 July, offering additional recreation facilities for everyone to use.
The eighteen schools taking part in the programme this summer will be offering 44 free educational activities, based around art, culture, sports and education packs. One of the initiatives is a free open-air family circus workshop, organised with the collaboration of the Ateneu Popular 9 Barris and offered at sixteen of the participating playgrounds.
Opening up playgrounds during the holidays enables one of the goals of the initiative to be achieved: the optimisation of public use of school playgrounds, getting the most out of their educational and social potential as safe local recreational environments, outside of school hours, at weekends and in the school holidays.
This municipal initiative is also backed by the Barcelona Education Consortium and other social and educational organisations in the city.
As from 13 September, the 70 playgrounds on the open playgrounds programme will be opening at their usual times again.
