Christmas. The Barcelona Christmas Tour and the Montjuïc Cable Car offer you two ways to rediscover the city at Christmas: a night-time tour of the main streets, and a chance to see the lights from up on high.

This festive season, enjoy the magic and sparkle of Christmas in Barcelona with a trip on the Montjuïc Cable Car and the Barcelona Christmas Tour, a bus tour that takes you to the most emblematic places in the city, all lit up for the big occasion. Two very different ways to discover the splendours of Barcelona at Christmas.

Barcelona City Council, Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona and Turisme de Barcelona are once again offering their Barcelona Christmas Tour, a night-time double-decker bus tour that takes you around the city’s most emblematic streets, avenues and buildings, all beautifully lit up and decorated for Christmas. This special service for the festive season is already running, operating from Mondays to Sundays, with two evening departures, one at 6 pm and the other at 8 pm (except on Christmas Day) until 30 December. The tour starts and finishes at the Barcelona Bus Turístic stop in Plaça de Catalunya.

The route takes in outstanding streets and landmarks such as Passeig de Gràcia (Casa Batlló, La Pedrera), Hospital de Sant Pau, the Sagrada Família and Arc de Triomf, and then heads in the direction of Poble Sec, via a Paral·lel all lit up and dressed in its Christmas finery. You can book through the usual channels: www.holabarcelona.com and tickets.visitbarcelona.com. Tickets cost €15 for adults and children over 13, and €10 for 4 – 12 year olds.

Another way to see Barcelona’s Christmas lights is from up on high. The Montjuïc Cable Car takes you up into the skies above the city on a 750 m journey from the Park to Montjuïc Castle. On the way back, it passes by the Mirador station, where the Miramar and Mossèn Costa i Llobera gardens are located, as well as the Mirador de l’Alcalde, from where you can enjoy the best views out over the city. Return tickets are sold at the ticket office, and cost €14.20 for adults, and €10.20 for children.
