Disruptions to mobility in Rambla de Catalunya over the coming weekends
Significant disruptions to mobility are in store in Rambla de Catalunya over the weekends of 27 and 28 April and 4 and 5 May, owing to surfacing work. The work will affect the area between Av. Diagonal and Ronda Universitat.
The new work corresponds to improvements being made as part of the comprehensive maintenance plan, with work and preventive action planned to avoid incidents and the deterioration of public space.
Disruptions over the weekend of 27 and 28 April
Work over the last weekend in April will be carried out on the side nearest the Besòs, in the direction of the mountains. On Saturday, 27 April, this will affect the services lane, without affecting traffic circulation.
From 9 am on Sunday, 28 April, surface milling and the application of asphalt will mean closures to traffic in Rambla de Catalunya, between Gran Via and Av. Diagonal, with work carried out in sections, and local residents and services able to gain access, as well as vehicles using intersecting streets. In the direction of the Besòs, traffic will be diverted into Passeig de Gràcia, and in the direction of the Llobregat, the diversion will be along C/ Aribau.
In the section between Ronda Universitat and Gran Via, surfacing work will be carried out in halves. A single traffic lane will be operating in the direction of the mountains, while the side in the direction of the sea will be closed. Vehicles will be diverted along Gran Via and Passeig de Gràcia. Finally, in the section between C/ Còrsega and Av. Diagonal, vehicles that need to access C/ Còrsega will have to do so from the side lane in Av. Diagonal.
Disruptions over the weekend of 4 and 5 May
The first weekend in May will see surfacing work move to the Llobregat side of Rambla de Catalunya in the direction of the sea. As with the previous weekend, the only lane occupied on Saturday, 4 May, will be the service lane, with one lane of traffic operational.
On Sunday, 5 May, the work will again mean traffic closures in Rambla de Catalunya, with surfacing work carried out in sections and access for local residents and service vehicles, as well as vehicles using intersecting roads. Circulation will be diverted using the same streets as the previous Sunday. Traffic using streets that intersect Rambla de Catalunya and travelling in the direction of the Besòs will be diverted along Passeig de Gràcia, while those travelling in the direction of the Llobregat will be diverted along C/ Balmes.
Surfacing work on 19 and 20 May will be carried out at the junctions between Rambla Catalunya and the streets of Còrsega, Rosselló, Provença, Mallorca, València, Diputació and Gran Via. Mobility at these points will also be disrupted as a result.
