Night of Museums - The Dissemination of Art

New Media with Old Vices
21 May, 2016 - 22:00

Place: Floor 0

Participants: Félix Pérez-Hita and Andrés Hispano.

The media have a major responsibility towards what art and artists represent, as they often insist on topics or focus on certain events above others. Has the Internet changed the indefatigable romantic narrative of art? Andrés Hispano and Félix Pérez-Hita will talk about new directions being taken by the dissemination of art in the media and the new attitudes of cultural audiences. From what is now an old problem of the marriage between art and advertising, in commercial brands and in branded cities and countries alike, to the numerous social and political projects being hosted today by museums and other institutions. They will also discuss the imposition of immediacy in the transmission of data and the brevity of formats, often to the detriment of quality or of potential complexity.

During the session, which will be in interactive format, fragments from some projects by Hispano and Pérez-Hita ( Soy Cámara , Boing Boing Buddha , Baixa Fidelitat , etc.) will be shown and commented, along with a selection of what they consider to be most interesting from the current production in this field (in television, cinema and the Internet alike).
