The Struggle for Urban Space Screening of documentary and discussion
The documentary, produced by Jacobo Sucari in 2006 focuses on the violent changes caused by urban development on the landscape and inhabitants of the Poblenou district of Barcelona.
The Struggle for Urban Space reveals the responses of different actors in the area: neighbour associations, factory workers, artists that share workshops and squatters in unused spaces.
The documentary delves into all of these social fabrics reflecting the conflict between old and new, between the heritage of social memory and progress as a beautiful angel of destruction.

From 18:00 to 19:00, screening of the documentary, The Struggle for Urban Space. From 19:00 to 20:00, discussion with the participation of Tere Badia, director of Hangar; Salvador Clarós, president of the Poblenou Neighbours’ Association; and Jacobo Sucari, visual artist and creator of the documentary. The discussion aims to recontextualise the transformation processes of a district, from the viewpoint of social action and cultural management, within a key context in the transition of production mechanisms and use of spaces. The activity is part of the In Transition-Work programme of Living In-between.
