ADRIAN TCHAIKOVSKY. ENVIRONMENTALISM, SOCIAL CRITICISM AND TIME TRAVEL
Little did British writer Adrian Czajkowski know when he changed his Polish surname to Tchaikovsky that he would soon become a household name in science fiction literature in his country. He achieved this thanks to three successful sagas: Shadows of the Apt, Children of Time (published in Spanish under the name Herederos del tiempo) and Echoes of the Fall. Although he has won prizes such as the Arthur C. Clarke award, he has also authored a number of independent novels, two of which have recently been translated into Catalan, with success, by the publishing house Chronos. The first of these, Firewalkers, starts from the point of view of social criticism and environmentalism to tell us about the links between climate and social class through a group of young people who find themselves having to repair a vehicle breakdown in the middle of the African desert. The second, One Day All This Will Be Yours, is a giddy story of war and time travel that has just been released to coincide with Festival 42. This is therefore the perfect opportunity to learn more and in more depth about the growing Tchaikovsky universe, this time led by a renowned journalist and one of his translators into Catalan.
