Anna Starobínets
Anna Starobínets, born in Moscow in 1978, is one of the leading voices in contemporary Russian speculative fiction. She holds a degree in philology from Moscow State University and is also an accomplished screenwriter, with two feature films to her name. At only 27, she published her first book, An Awkward Age, followed by The Living, winner of the 2016 Utopiales European Award and Assembly of Sci-fi, and Catlantis, which was named Book of the Year by The Observer. Her short story collection The Icarus Gland earned her Russia’s National Bestseller Prize in 2013. In 2018, Starobinets received the European Science Fiction Award, and in 2021 she published Look at Him. Her latest novel, The Ford of the Foxes, was published in Catalan in 2025.
