Festival 42

The writing of one of the most unclassifiable, exuberant authors of the 20th century, Angela Carter, will come to life at the 42 Festival. As part of the tribute to this writer – considered by many to be subversive, imaginative, carnivalesque, sensual, even baroque – some excerpts from her stories will be dramatised. These stories transformed the traditional format and combined pop culture with philosophical thought and high culture. The Hermanas del Desorden, Ale Oseguera and Laura Tomás, will lead this event, and through words, the body and music, they will explain the common thread among some of Carter’s protagonists: revolution and freedom from the perspective of female monstrosity. Carter Cabaret will take place between two talks on the author’s literary career, In Carter’s Company and In the Bloody Chamber.
