CarterCon 3. In the bloody chamber
Subversive, imaginative, carnivalesque, sensual, baroque... These are just some of the adjectives that could be used to describe Angela Carter, one of the most unclassifiable, exuberant authors of the 20th century. Through her books, she reinvented the fairy tale from a lucid, monstrously free perspective, as well as transforming traditional stories and combining pop culture with philosophical thought and high culture. In this second round table dedicated to Carter at the 42 Festival, the participants will discuss how the author’s fairy tales still inspire us today and will focus on the book The Bloody Chamber, with emphasis on her monstrous heroines and re-readings of classics such as Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast. Taking part in this event will be authors Beatriz García Guirado, Sarai Herrera and Maya G. Vinuesa, led by Gemma Solsona.
