The cosplay contest is back at Festival 42!

The 2025 edition of Festival 42 will be held from 5 to 9 November, at Fabra i Coats and, once again, has called for a cosplay contest.

Prepare your best literary galas, because this year we will once again fill the stage with literary characters or their film adaptations. The theme, like last year, is cosplay of characters from books or film adaptations, series and video games within the horror, fantasy or science fiction genres.

And there will be cash prizes!

Jury members

Sofía Guerrero

Sofía Guerrero, a social educator by profession and a costume designer by vocation, dedicates her free time to analyzing science fiction from sociocultural and aesthetic perspectives, in different media and magazines. She also collaborates with various associations and events in Barcelona; however, it is on her own platforms where her love for sci-fi acquires an audiovisual format under her label and stage name Vampisaurus. There she unites her passions, sewing and costume design, with the fantastic world, creating tributes in photography and video with clear references that range from the space invasion cinema of the 50s to the cyberpunk of the 80s.

Mara Antón

Mara Antón is a book-loving biologist born in northern Spain and based in Barcelona, who combines voracious reading with the recreation of literary characters through cosplay. Her university education is purely scientific, but her knowledge of botany and mycology, along with her adoration for fantasy, folklore and mythology (and a fervor for the indiscriminate use of Excel sheets) made her a perfect fit for the artisanal fashion company where she has been working for almost a decade: El Costurero Real. She is passionate about books, so when she is not working, she is organizing themed events in Barcelona, reading a book or writing fiction, with a glass of wine nearby and a couple of cats.

Anam Stubbington

Anam is a talented creator with over 10 years of experience in the world of cosplay, where she has stood out with her creativity and spectacular works. Her characterizations range from Star Wars to steampunk creations, including anime and Studio Ghibli film cosplays. She shares this passion with her family and from her account Familyof4Cosplay she shows her artistic process and the creation of group cosplays. She also shares her techniques and knowledge through local workshops. She was the winner of last year's cosplay contest, combining different techniques and skills such as sewing and working with materials such as eva foam.
