In 2022, the European fantasy harvest has brought us a crop of great works, like those written by the 42 authors who are taking part in this round table. But beyond the obvious diversity, is it possible to speak of a pan-European voice for the genre? Are there common issues or concerns? For example, magic, in this case dark magic, is one of the cornerstones of Gareth Hanrahan's trilogy The Black Iron Legacy. Meanwhile, the British author of Yoruba origins Tade Thompson is one of the leading figures in the genre's renaissance. This aspect has also been cultivated by Catherine Dufour, who in L'immaculée conception constructs a feminist story that begins in a woman's uterus. The relationship between humans and nature is at the centre of the Buckmaster series, by the iconoclastic writer Paul Kingsnorth, while in Utopia Avenue, fellow Briton David Mitchell takes fantasy to a musical level, imagining a story in the London of 1967, with moments of fantasy. Don't leave without hearing what C. J. Tudor has to say about this. In The Burning Girls she turns a small village with a dark past into the setting for a story full of supernatural elements. And also not to be missed is the talk by Robert Shearman: knowing the stories that make up Love Songs for the Shy and Cynical  and Tiny Deaths, his participation could be equally fun, intelligent and... disturbing.

There will be simultaneous translation service from English to Spanish.
