Greats of YA literature: Care Santos, Elia Barceló and David Lozano
The young adult literature scene in Spain features many big names with established careers and plenty of recognition from audiences of different generations, who have grown up with their work. Care Santos, Elia Barceló and David Lozano have a wealth of experience writing fantasy fiction for young people, winning various accolades – including Edebé Awards – and demonstrating a commitment to reading promotion and education through events with readers and talks of all kinds. Whether because of this constant contact with young people or due to their vast experience, all three writers address deep contemporary themes in a way that leaves a lasting impression on their readers. These three authors will discuss their experiences and careers during this round table, as well as talking about their latest works: Elia Barceló’s Una mentira peligrosa (Alfaguara), Care Santos’s Quan s’apaguen els llums (Edebé) and David Lozano’s La cacera (Edebé). The session will be led by the translator and secondary school teacher Laia Rubio, who knows first hand how young readers feel when they come into contact with these great authors.
