Lathalverse: creating an ink and paper universe

The keys to building new worlds

Date: 6 November

Time:  5 pm

Place:  La Insòlita

Address: Ciutat de Granada, 76

Participants: 10-15

Moderator: Alister Mairon

The writer Alister Mairon explains how to create a universe for a novel based on her own Lathalverse. Mairon will show participants how they can create spaces, draw maps and generate place names, design a geographical framework, cities or rural areas, and think about religion or mythology, as part of building this literary universe.

There are many aspects you need to take into account when creating a universe: its economy, technology, politics and culture, for example, are intrinsic to the world you are creating, and the first step you must take when conceiving and structuring it is to create the physical space where the literary universe will be.

She will suggest exercises and activities to help participants conceive their own worlds based on their own imagination and bring them to life. This activity is 90-120 minutes long.
