Liliana López León
Liliana López León, born in Mexicali in 1984, holds a PhD in media, communication and culture from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Her work has appeared in magazines such as Sputnik, Espejo Humeante, Especulativas, Colectivero and El Septentrión. She received the 2022 Baja California State Literature Prize for Este vientre es un conejo de carbón [This Womb Is a Charcoal Rabbit] and the runner-up prize in the 2024 LorcaBiciudad National Poetry Prize for Animal de silencios [Creature of Silences]. She has also contributed to the anthologies Extrañamientos [Displacements], Raras e inquietas [Strange and Restless Women] and Todo futuro es temporal [All Futures Are Temporary]. Her story Nuestro capitán sueña con ríos azules [Our Captain Dreams of Blue Rivers] was selected for ‘The Best of Mexican Science Fiction 2024’.
