Maielis González, born in Havana in 1989, is a fiction writer, literary researcher and reading promoter. She has published several books, including the short-story collection Jauría [Pack] and the Afrofuturist novel Palenque, her most recent work. Together with Sofia Barker, she produced four seasons of the literary podcast Las Escritoras de Urras [The Women Writers of Urras], which won two Ignotus Awards. She teaches creative writing at the Escuela de Escritores in Madrid and runs workshops at Sudakasa, a collective for immigrant communities in Spain.
