MYTHS AND LEGENDS WITH JENNIFER SAINT AND LUCY HOLLAND
Myths and legends are a core part of the first edition of Festival 42, although in few events is this as true as in this conversation with two female British authors who have made the great international leap with new releases directly related to them. With her novel Ariadne, which reprises the myth of Theseus and the labyrinth from the point of view of its main female character, the writer and teacher Jennifer Saint has thus expanded on the line first opened by Marion Zimmer Bradley with the Avalon Series and more recently by Catherine Miller with Circe. For her part, Lucy Holland, who focuses more on the medieval legends of ancient Britain but is just as combative, has just had her book Sistersong, which is based on an old British folklore ballad, translated into Spanish as Sistersong. La balada del arpa de hueso. The teacher, historian and theorist of this genre Sergi Viciana, who is also interested in the mythological roots of these two works, will ask them how they have integrated myth and narration, about their strong female characters and about the reasons for their success.
