Together with Gareth Hanrahan and Brian McClellan, the writings of the Canadian Nicholas Eames are some of the greatest works of epic fantasy chosen by the publishing house Gamon to represent its much talked-about incursion into the market just over a year ago. With his Band saga starting with the very strong Kings of the Wyld, Eames has shown that hybrids between adventure comedy and epic fantasy can be created without giving up on action, darkness or even references to the techniques of role-playing games and video games (not to mention rock music). Monsters, mercenaries, uncharted lands, a touch of technology, a pinch of satire and a tiny bit of grimdark are some of the author's key elements, which he also uses in the recent Bloody Rose. While we're waiting for new Wyld instalments, Eames will visit Festival 42 to talk to one of the best online disseminators of epic fantasy, the ‘knight of the smiling tree’, as per the name of his blog, Daniel Garrido.

Taking part:

Nicholas Eames is a Canadian epic fantasy writer. He is the author of Kings of the Wyld and the recently released sequel Bloody Rose. He is a great lover of black coffee, neat whisky, October and video games.

Moderated by:

Daniel Garrido is a journalist from Extremadura who specialises in fantasy genres. He is the creator of the popular blog Caballero del árbol sonriente. He also writes in, and edits, the award-winning magazine Windumanoth.
