Humans’ relationship with nature is at the heart of the Buckmaster trilogy published by British writer Paul Kingsnorth. The full collection is available in English, but for now, only the last of the three instalments, Alexandria, can be read in Catalan (the first two are The Wake and Beast). The series begins in 1066 and ends in the 21st century, telling the story of a land and the population that inhabits it for 2 millennia. In Alexandria, the action takes place in the future, when a group of people constituting the last bastion of humanity are under siege from a force that has pushed humans to the brink of extinction. This is the brainchild of an author who has played a role in endless environmental activism campaigns and initiatives. Disillusioned with the ecological struggle, he now lives in an isolated part of the west of Ireland, writing novels that explore the relationship between society and environmental collapse.

There will be simultaneous translation service from English to Catalan.
