Writing fantasy genres: The secrets of a handbook in 60 minutes
Choosing speculative fiction means opening up a vast range of possibilities. Fantasy, horror, science fiction and magic realism are just some of the labels included in this category. All are options that involve making different decisions when looking at a blank page. In this talk, the publisher of the manual Escribir fantástico handbook (Páginas de Espuma) and teacher at the Escuela de Escritores, Alejandro Marcos, and one of the authors who contribute to the book, Arantxa Rochet, will explain the different types of fantasy genres and detail some essential techniques for writing them. The event seeks to provide tips and advice for everyone looking to get into speculative fiction, and just might feature an appearance from some of the handbook contributors who are guests at the 5th edition of the 42 Festival, from the pioneering Lola Roble to Alberto Chimal and Maielis González.
