DESIRE AND REPRESSION: KIM LIGGETT & KELLY ROBSON
At first sight, the writer from the rural midwest Kim Liggett and the Toronto-based Canadian Kelly Robson have nothing in common other than the fact that they are women writing fantasy in English. Furthermore, they are bringing very different works to the 42 Festival: Ligget's feminist dystopian novel Grace Year and Robson's Waters of Versailles, a historic fantasy featuring a unique creature. So why did we decide to put them both in the same session? Maybe because they've both written dark works and won awards with works that come close to horror, for example. Or maybe because the above books, although very different, share some aspects, such as the subjects of desire, sex and repression. Or also because the Festival organisers feel that the discovery of these two authors deserves to be well publicised. And... well, as to the rest, you'll just have to listen to the questions that the also writer and YouTuber Andrea Izquierdo will be asking them in this session. And don't say we didn't tell you that you should attend...
